Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using any IFO4 platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use our platforms. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and IFO4.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days in advance. Your continued use of IFO4 platforms after that notice period means you accept the updated terms.

2. About IFO4

IFO4 (International Financial Operations Authority) is a Delaware-registered organization that operates 35 platforms for financial operations professionals. Our platforms provide certifications, training, professional community, research, standards, benchmarking, and related services. A full list of our platforms is available at ifo4.org.

3. Your Account

• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account
• You must provide accurate and complete information when registering
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• Do not share your login credentials with anyone else
• One account per person - do not create multiple accounts
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• Notify us immediately at security@ifo4.org if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, contain false information, or are used for unauthorized purposes.

4. Our Services

IFO4 platforms provide the following categories of services:

• Certifications: Professional certification programs with examinations, scoring, and credential issuance for financial operations roles
• Training: Courses, learning paths, and continuing professional education for financial operations professionals
• Community: Professional networking, forums, and collaboration through social.ifo4.org
• Research and Standards: Industry research, data analytics, benchmarking reports, and professional standards
• Events: Conferences, webinars, chapter meetings, and professional gatherings
• Tools: Assessment tools, maturity models, compliance frameworks, and operational resources
• Registry: Professional credential registry and verification services

Service availability varies by membership tier and platform. Not all services are available on all platforms.

5. Membership and Payment

Membership tiers

Payment and billing

• All payments are processed by Stripe. All prices are in US dollars (USD).
• Memberships renew automatically each year unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• You can cancel auto-renewal at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
• Certification exam fees are separate from membership fees and are charged at the time of registration.

Refund policy

• Memberships: 30-day money-back guarantee on your first membership purchase. After the first 30 days, or on renewal charges, refunds are not available.
• Certification exams: Full refund available if you cancel before your exam attempt. No refund after you begin an exam. No refund for completed certifications.
• Events: Refund policies for individual events are stated at the time of registration.

If you believe a charge was made in error, contact billing@ifo4.org within 60 days of the charge.

6. Certifications

Exam integrity

IFO4 certifications carry professional weight. To maintain their value, the following rules apply to all examinations:

• You must complete exams on your own without unauthorized assistance
• Do not share, photograph, record, or reproduce exam questions in any form
• Do not use unauthorized reference materials, tools, or aids during an exam unless specifically permitted by the exam instructions
• Do not impersonate another person or allow another person to take an exam on your behalf
• Do not attempt to access exam content outside of an authorized exam session

Certification status and revocation

Certifications may be revoked for:

• Fraud or dishonesty during the examination process
• Ethical violations as defined by IFO4 professional standards
• Failure to maintain required continuing professional education (CPE) credits
• Material misrepresentation of your qualifications, experience, or certification status
• Conviction of a felony related to financial misconduct

If revocation is being considered, you will be notified in writing and given 30 days to respond before a final decision is made. You may appeal a revocation decision within 60 days of the decision. Appeals are reviewed by a panel independent of the original decision-makers.

Use of certification credentials

• Certifications are personal and non-transferable
• You may display your active certification status publicly, including on your resume, LinkedIn profile, and professional materials
• You must accurately represent your certification status and not claim certifications you do not hold or that have been revoked or expired
• Use of IFO4 certification marks must comply with our brand guidelines

7. Social Platform Rules (social.ifo4.org)

social.ifo4.org is a professional community. The following rules are designed to keep it professional, safe, and useful for all members.

Your content

• You own the content you post on social.ifo4.org
• By posting content, you grant IFO4 a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, distribute, and store that content on the platform for the purpose of operating the service
• This license ends when you delete your content, except where your content has been shared by others or is retained in backups (which are purged within 30 days)
• You are solely responsible for the content you post

Prohibited content and conduct

The following are prohibited on social.ifo4.org:

• Hate speech, content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
• Harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or doxxing (publishing someone's private information without consent)
• Content that promotes or threatens violence
• Illegal content of any kind
• Spam, unsolicited bulk messaging, or deceptive commercial content
• Malware, phishing links, or other malicious technology
• Impersonation of other people or organizations
• False or misleading claims about certifications, credentials, or professional qualifications
• Solicitation of minors or any content that sexualizes minors
• Non-consensual intimate images
• Content that promotes or encourages self-harm or suicide
• Unauthorized commercial solicitation or multi-level marketing

Content moderation and enforcement

• We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these rules
• We may remove content without prior notice when the violation is clear
• Repeat violators will be permanently banned from social.ifo4.org
• You may report violations to abuse@ifo4.org
• We cooperate with law enforcement when legally required or when we believe there is a credible threat of harm

Platform liability disclaimer

IFO4 provides the social.ifo4.org platform but does not create, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy of user-generated content. Under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (United States) and equivalent safe harbor provisions in other jurisdictions, IFO4 is not liable for content posted by users. We act in good faith to moderate content, but we cannot review every post in real time.

Automated access and data collection

• Do not scrape, crawl, or systematically collect data from social.ifo4.org without our written permission
• Do not use bots, scripts, or automated tools to access the platform, send messages, or interact with other users
• Employers and recruiters may not mass-message users, harvest profile data, or build databases from social.ifo4.org content
• Violations of these restrictions may result in permanent bans and legal action

8. Community Guidelines

All IFO4 platforms are professional environments. We expect all members to conduct themselves accordingly.

• Treat other members with respect and professionalism
• Do not discriminate against others based on any protected characteristic
• Constructive feedback and professional disagreement are welcome; personal attacks are not
• Do not engage in behavior that disrupts the community or diminishes other members' experience
• Violations of community guidelines may result in warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent removal at our discretion

9. Intellectual Property

What IFO4 owns

• All platform code, software, and technology
• IFO4 frameworks, standards, and methodologies
• Course materials, training content, and exam questions
• IFO4 certification marks, logos, and brand elements
• Research reports and publications (excluding user-contributed data)
• The IFO4 Universal Labeling Standard and related specifications

What you own

• Content you create and post on our platforms
• Your personal assessment data and scores
• Professional credentials you earn through our certification programs

What you may not do

• Copy, reproduce, or distribute IFO4 course materials or exam content
• Reproduce IFO4 standards, frameworks, or methodologies without a license
• Use IFO4 trademarks, logos, or certification marks without written permission
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from our platforms
• Create derivative works based on IFO4 proprietary content

10. AI Features

Some IFO4 platforms include features powered by artificial intelligence. These features are tools intended to assist you, not replace your professional judgment.

• AI-generated output may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You should verify any AI output before relying on it.
• IFO4 is not liable for decisions you make based on AI-generated content.
• AI features do not constitute legal, financial, tax, medical, or other professional advice.
• We clearly label AI-generated content so you can distinguish it from human-authored material.
• You may opt out of AI features through your account settings.

11. Data and Benchmarks

IFO4 produces industry benchmarks, reports, and research using anonymized, aggregated data. By creating an account, you consent to the use of your data in anonymized and aggregated form for these purposes. No individual person is identifiable in any benchmark report or published research. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting privacy@ifo4.org, though this will not affect data already included in published reports.

12. Third-Party Services

IFO4 platforms integrate with third-party services including Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (security and content delivery), and others. These third-party services have their own terms of service and privacy policies. IFO4 is not responsible for the practices, availability, or performance of third-party services. Your use of third-party services is governed by their respective terms.

13. Disclaimers

IFO4 platforms and services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, IFO4 makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the platforms, including but not limited to:

• We do not guarantee that our platforms will be available without interruption or free from errors
• We do not guarantee that certification will result in employment, promotion, or any specific career outcome
• We do not guarantee the accuracy of benchmarks, although we take reasonable steps to ensure data quality
• We do not guarantee that all content on our platforms is current or complete
• We do not provide legal, financial, tax, or professional advice through our platforms, and nothing on our platforms should be construed as such

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, IFO4's total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to your use of our platforms is limited to the amount you paid to IFO4 in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

IFO4 is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of business opportunities, or reputational harm, regardless of whether we were advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

15. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless IFO4, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Content you post on any IFO4 platform
• Your violation of these Terms of Service
• Your violation of any third party's rights, including intellectual property rights or privacy rights
• Your use of our platforms in a manner not authorized by these terms

16. Dispute Resolution

Governing law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

Arbitration

Any dispute arising from or relating to these terms or your use of IFO4 platforms shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered under the rules of the American Arbitration Association in Wilmington, Delaware. The arbitrator's decision is final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.

Class action waiver

You agree that any disputes will be resolved on an individual basis only. You waive any right to participate in a class action, collective action, or representative action against IFO4.

Small claims exception

Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court instead of arbitration, provided the claim falls within the court's jurisdictional limits.

EU and UK users

If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in this section limits your statutory rights, including your right to bring claims in the courts of your country of residence. You may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

17. Termination

• You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by emailing support@ifo4.org
• We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if required by law
• Upon termination, your right to access IFO4 platforms ends immediately
• Certification records survive termination - your earned credentials remain on the registry and remain verifiable
• Payment obligations incurred before termination survive termination
• Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, indemnification, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution) will survive

18. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these terms from time to time. For material changes, we will send you an email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. If you do not agree with the revised terms, you should stop using IFO4 platforms before the new terms take effect. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

19. General Provisions

• Severability: If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
• Entire agreement: These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and IFO4 regarding your use of our platforms.
• Assignment: IFO4 may assign its rights and obligations under these terms. You may not assign your rights or obligations without our prior written consent.
• No waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
• Force majeure: IFO4 is not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, government action, or internet outages.
• Notices: We will send notices to the email address on your account. You are responsible for keeping your email address current.
